Design, computers make it competent

OnePlus has partnered with Bandai Namco, the Japanese maker of the Pac-Man game, to launch the Pac-Man Edition to create a sort of nostalgia among game-oriented buyers. The Pac-Man Edition smartphone is an extension of the OnePlus Nord series and is under the aegis of Nord 2. OnePlus Nord 2 Pac Man Edition brings some quirky and interesting elements to break the monotony of this entire smartphone range.

design

The OnePlus Nord 2 Pac Man Edition sports a mix of aluminum and glass chassis. The fun aspect of Pac-Man is that it glows in dark environments as the fluorescent material on the back creates a maze and has Nord branding in the dark. There are prominent details on the back with uniquely placed dots to form a pattern and the Pac-Man logo just below the camera module makes it stand out.

The OnePlus branding is closer to the edge. The rectangular camera module includes triple cameras and LED flash. The punch-hole display houses the selfie lens and has enough room for content and gaming.

The SIM tray, USB port and speaker grille are located on the bottom panel. The volume rocker is on the left flank, while the power button and notification key are on the right. Overall, Nord 2 Pac-Man has a premium and unique design which is really cool.

Display

OnePlus Nord 2 Pac Man flaunts a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,080×2,400 pixels. The screen will have a panel with a refresh rate of 90Hz and a viewing ratio of 20:9. The large screen is good enough for daily activities, gaming, reading and content consumption. The huge computing power of the processor does not allow it to deplete during intensive use. Thermal temperature is maintained in Pac-Man and it is not easily overheated.

Processor

OnePlus packs the Nord 2 Pac Man Edition with an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC. Pac-Man gets a huge boost with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. I haven’t found any lag in the phone yet. Scrolling, loading and calculating is super smooth.

The Pac-Man gaming experience was great too. The AI-compatible chipset doesn’t drop the frame rate, which makes it a good hold in the premium segment. Nord 2 Pac-Man gets OxygenOS skin 11.3 on top of Android 11. Pac-Man’s UI is different from other Nord phones. The icons and wallpaper make this a limited edition smartphone.

cameras

Triple camera setup will be found on the back of OnePlus Nord 2 Pac Man. The phone packs a 50MP main lens, a Sony IMX766 sensor with f/1.8, a secondary 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a third 2MP monochrome sensor. These triple cameras justify the reason here and live up to the expectations of the buyers in this segment. It can digitally zoom up to 5X.

The main lens performs well in daylight with ample details. The 32MP selfie camera is also a Sony IMX615 sensor. Selfies come out good with occasional overexposure and unnecessary glare. There are filters in the camera app for your social media needs. Outdoor selfies are better than artificial lighting.

Battery

The Pac-Man is powered by a 4,500mAh battery in conjunction with a 65W fast charger. Durability isn’t an issue and neither is charging speed. Fast charger fills up quickly. The huge RAM and chipset ensure that the phone lasts for a long time with normal usage. In any case, the battery can easily last for a day or more. Heating is rarely observed.

an estimate

OnePlus Nord 2 Pac Man Nord brings a whole new experience to phone stereotyping. Its association with Pac-Man manufacturers makes it a unique product in the mid-range 30K. Nord 2 bets on the Pac-Man design, a new user interface and the highest amount of RAM to make an impact on the market. Available for Rs 37,999 for 12GB and 256GB, the Pac-Man variant makes sense.
